I think that throughout this project I have done a good job of accomplishing my goals and sticking to my schedule. It was definitely tempting to treat this section of time like summer, just because I had a really flexible schedule, but after a little adjustment at the beginning, I settled into a regular rhythm. Initially, I was planning on focusing on teaching more than I did, but the jobs that I got all didn't start until later in the summer. This opened up more time for me to study at home and also ride. This time has been useful for me to learn a lot and also practice regulating my own time and motivating myself without a set due date or deadline to adhere to. My senior project was very specific, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to someone else unless they were interested in the same goal that I was. I also appreciate the school allowing students to work on these passion projects or more unique/non-traditional senior projects and I think that should continue. Giving students a space to work on something they are passionate about is nice because I feel like a lot of times those passions that aren't necessarily academic are not supported or highlighted through school, so senior projects are a perfect opportunity for that.
Hi Mikayla,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had this time to learn more about horse health, disease and nutrition, to care for horses and to ride. I'm glad too that you got to learn more about how to motivate your self and regulate your schedule when it was wide open and up to you to set your agenda. That may be the most transferable life skill you'll take away from this.
Congratulations on completing your project! I look forward to your graduation next week. Best, Wendy
